April 02, 2019
Kate Adie in conversation with Richard Osgood

We’re delighted to announce Kate Adie in conversation with Richard Osgood headlining this year’s Theatre, Poetry & Talks programme. Considered to be among our most reliable and courageous reporters as well as one of the first British women to send dispatches from danger zones around the world, Kate was BBC chief news correspondent from 1989-2003. In this candid talk, Kate and Richard will discuss her life and work, cultures and war zones and will explore the changing perceptions of women in the media.

BBC Radio 4’s thought-provoking show, Four Thought, will be recording at this year’s festival, with exciting speakers invited to provide answers to some of the biggest questions facing society today. The show will be broadcast on Radio 4, while the Q&A following the talks will be included in the podcast. Stay tuned for guest speakers.

Also announced today are the extensive workshops on offer at this year’s Festival, which will include experiences as diverse as aerial yoga, bird-ringing, life-drawing and a hula disco, as well as insightful sessions with Salisbury Museum and the Jurassic Coast Trust.

Plus, don’t miss long-time Festival favourites The Antipoet and Southampton Ukulele Jam who are sure to be popping up all over the weekend.
