Hejira formed in the late 2000s, after meeting through performing in big band and jazz ensembles, playing alongside no less than Amy Winehouse, Nitin Sawhney, Floating Points, and Eric Lau. Based in London but universal in scope and expression, the three core members came together to explore the meeting point of their musical skills and interests and a unique magic began to emerge from unassuming jam sessions. Encouraged and inspired by these new energies of songwriting and collaboration, the band set up a home studio in 2010. They’ve come a long way since then and their latest album Thread of Gold – released on their own label earlier this year – is the perfect example of a group that keeps getting better and better. One not to miss at Larmer Tree this year.
