Rapper, multi-instrumentalist and sometime singer Dizraeli is taking hip-hop to new terrains. After six years pushing boundaries with his band Dizraeli & The Small Gods, winning the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition and wowing crowds at festivals across Europe, Dizraeli left the band in 2018 to explore new possibilities.
The exploration took him to unexpected places: from composing the soundtrack for new E4 parallel-worlds comedy Tripped, touring in France with producer and turntablist DJ Down Low, to spending a week giving workshops in the refugee camp at Calais.
Carrying these experiences home to London, he decided to record an album in a completely new way. Instead of shutting himself in a soulless, carpeted studio, he would invite an audience of close friends to the basement of a cafe, play live for those friends and record what he played – no editing and no studio tricks. The result a is a heavy, beautiful, unsugared sound, unlike anything you’ve heard before.
