With Birds of Poole Harbour & Stour Ringing Group
The Dorset countryside is a rich and vibrant place, especially for its native birds, but how much do you know about the feathered friends that visit your garden? Local Dorset charity Birds of Poole Harbour and study organisation the Stour Ringing Group have teamed up to offer an up close and personal encounter with some of our most familiar bird species. The BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) ringing scheme was established over 100 years ago and has provided vital information on migration routes, population trends and survival rates of birds right across Britain and Europe. Join the teams as they talk you through the ringing research they’ve been carrying out in Dorset over the years whilst hopefully showing you a selection of birds in the hand as part of their on-going monitoring work.
