A magical tree has sprung up in the Gardens, one previously spoken of only in legends…
The Larmer Tree!

The Gardens take their name from a magnificent landmark tree which is said to have stood in the Gardens from as early as the 10th century. To commemorate our 25th festival in 2015 we decided to go back to our roots and reinstate the Larmer Tree, a tree so mighty it would become a permanent feature for festivals to come, and that is what you can find in The Village every year.

The tree was created by Circus Kinetica, an award-winning arts collective from Sussex, renowned for creating wind powered installations and large interactive sculptures. Each and every year this beautiful creation will be added to by a different group or individuals, growing in new and magical directions.

In 2015, beautiful peacocks adorned the branches thanks to Julia’s House Children’s Hospice, Manor Fields School, Sixpenny Handley School, Odstock Day Nursery and The Regard Partnership, who all worked with us to craft the birds.

This year, the tree is truly blossoming! Lost and Rambling Collective have worked with Sixpenny Handley First School, Bourne Valley Nursery School, The Regard Partnership and our official charity partner Julia’s House to create a beautiful, individual withy flower for each group to make their mark on 2016’s festival.
