Another visit to Larmer for Bristol-based band Tezeta (Ethiopian for ‘nostalgia’) who get their inspiration from the Ethiopian golden age of the ‘60s and ’70s Ethiopiques recordings. They play a combination of their own material and the compositions of Mulatu Astatke and similar artists combining Ethiopian harmony with Afro-beat, jazz and funk. The band consists of a versatile collective of musicians from the Bristol scene, with members from bands including Count Bobo (playing separately at Larmer Tree 2016), The Evil Usses, Rae and Bert Miller and the Animal Folk. The band was formed by keysman Daniel Inzani to play “that wobbly Ethiopian funk music we all love to groove to.”
